Sally Rides is a private chauffeur service serving Austin, Dripping Springs, and the surrounding Texas Hill Country. This policy explains what information we collect when you book a ride or use the Sally Rides app or website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Booking details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, pickup and drop-off addresses, ride date and time, number of passengers and bags, flight number (for airport trips), payment preference (e.g. Venmo, Zelle, cash, card), and any notes you add.
Account details: if you create an account, your email and a password (stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see your password), plus any addresses you choose to save.
Ride tracking: while your ride is underway, your driver's live location is shared with you and with dispatch so you can see your driver arriving. Rider accounts are never location-tracked — for riders, the app only knows the addresses you type. Driver location is described in full in the "Location data" section below.
Notifications: if you allow notifications, a device token so we can tell you when your driver is confirmed, on the way, or has arrived.

Location data

The Sally Rides app accesses and collects precise device location (GPS) — only from driver accounts, and only in these situations:

During an active ride: from the moment a driver taps "I'm on my way" until the ride is completed, the app collects the driver's location — including in the background, when the app is closed or the screen is off — so tracking keeps working while the driver navigates.
Optional sharing and mileage: a driver can choose to share their position with dispatch outside a ride (an on/off toggle), and to record the drive home for mileage; both collect location the same way and stop when turned off or after the vehicle is idle.

How location is used: to show the rider a live map of their driver arriving (via a private tracking link), to let dispatch coordinate pickups, and to keep per-trip mileage records for business accounting.

Sharing: a driver's live position is visible only to their assigned rider and to Sally Rides dispatch. It is stored on our database hosting provider and never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone else.

Retention: live positions are deleted when the ride completes; only trip mileage totals are kept as business records.

Your choices: location permission is requested in-app with an explanation before the system prompt, and can be declined or revoked at any time in your device settings — ride tracking and mileage features simply stop working; the rest of the app is unaffected. Rider accounts are never asked for location permission.

How we use it

To provide the ride you booked: dispatching a driver, contacting you about pickup details, tracking flights so we're there when you land.
To communicate with you about your booking by text message, phone, or notification.
To keep simple business records of completed rides.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone except: the driver assigned to your ride (your name, phone, addresses, and ride details — what they need to drive you), and the service providers that run our systems (database and authentication hosting, notification delivery, and mapping — each receives only what's needed to operate the app).

Payments

Payments are made directly to your driver or to Sally Rides by your chosen method (Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, cash, or card). The app never collects or stores card numbers.

How long we keep it

Completed-ride records are kept for ordinary business bookkeeping. Saved addresses and account details stay until you delete them or your account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account any time in the app: open the My Rides / History tab and tap Delete my account. This permanently removes your login, saved addresses, and personal details from your account. You can also ask us to do it — text or call and we'll take care of it.

Children

Sally Rides accounts are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children — child passengers ride under a parent or guardian's booking.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
